Papaver somniferum - ‘Black Beauty’

Stunning large, double flowers in the deepest red to black.

A hardy, easy-to-grow annual. Preferring a hot, sunny, free draining open site, but will grow in most sites and soils.

Sow outdoors from March - May where they are to flower. Sow 1.5mm deep 30cm apart.

Alternatively sow in late August/September in pots or modules to avoid root disturbance when potting on in early spring. Overwinter to flower earlier next season.

Remove seed pods before the seed is shed to prevent self-seeding.
